Mike Z., you’ll be missed

…not. Thanks for nothing. I guess six-sigma doesn’t really fix everything, huh?

No hope for “The Source”

Well, according to the CBC, Bell is going to buy a ton of “The Source” outlets soon. Formerly known as “Radio Shack”. Given Bell’s track record I guess that means that “The Source” is going to suck pretty heavily soon. I’ll just cross one more place off my shopping list then.

Life after Nortel

For a few years, my wife and I both worked at Nortel, our first job out of University. We were there during the dot-com crash around 2000, and that company has been heading downwards ever since, for a variety of reasons. Maria stayed when I moved on to Mitel, as I was fed up and [...]

The idiocy of the Canadian Telecom landscape

Today’s telecom landscape is so backwards and ignorant of the Internet. It’s like the executives of Bell Canada have their fingers stuck in their ears while everyone around them yells about the Internet, and they’re shouting “La La La, I can’t hear you”, like some silly ten-year-old. There I was in Marineland yesterday, with a [...]

Response from my MP on Bill C-61

So, I received a response from Gordon O’Connor’s office today. Dear Michael Soulier: On behalf of Gordon O’Connor, thank you for your recent correspondence regarding copyright reform. On June 12, 2008 our government introduced important amendments to the Copyright Act to bring it up-to-date with advances in technology. Our approach is in line with international [...]

Canada’s DMCA – Write your MP

If you’re not sure how to phrase a letter to your Minister of Parliament regarding Canada’s version of the DMCA, Bill C-61, this might help.

Little Mosque on the Prairie

I thought that I’d heard the television wrong during a commercial on the CBC, but apparently I didn’t. A new television show is coming out, called, and I’m not kidding, Little Mosque on the Prairie. Yes, that’s right. It premieres January 9th, about a new Imam moving out west to run a mosque, and the [...]

RCMP loses chief

And, the chief of the RCMP says, sure, I made a mistake and an innocent man was tortured based on my intel, but I’m not going to give up my job over it. Oh, wait, I am. Sorry, but I agree. A man was tortured over that testimony, and you just can’t repair that.

Canada Day

We had a great time on Canada Day. Kanata held a celebration in Walter Baker park, a park that we regularly hang-out at that the kids know well. The kids love the park, especially the water fountains, on a hot day. Jaan really got into these this time. My favorite radio station, 106.9 the Bear, [...]

Today’s wonderful medicine

So, for about three years now, I’ve been complaining to my family doctor about some breathing difficulties. She hasn’t taken it very seriously since she sent me for that first round of tests that basically concluded that I’m fine. Hey, tests don’t lie, I do, right? Of course, the tests were for my asthma, which [...]
